Not so long ago I was having a bit of bother with insomnia. Worry-induced, probably. My days starting somewhere between 3-4am.
It was on one of those nights – trying to catch some zzzzzs on the sofa, BBC 24 on mute – that the idea for Henry the 9th came to me in a sort of half awake, dream-deprived state.
I wrote him up in a flash fiction, edited the piece sometime later (when I could see straight), and now it’s published here on Spelk.
Spelk is open again for flash submissions in June/July 2016 and publishes three new stories every week of 500 words or less.
